Its really exciting to see someone else has noticed the shoe phenomenon. I should've known it would be you Jag! Over the last year I have found+photographed dozens of shoes around disparate places in London and was wondering if they were part of some sort of marketing drive, and if not, was trying to think of a project about them (that would actually interest people)...

Indeed our brains need taxing; we survived for so long without such assistance, why go OTT now?

Who is to say we can't climb trees and venture the streets?

BTW Jag, I work just off Honeypot lane now, so pop in and say hi! You should know the trophy place well by now; DM me on Twitter if you want a nombre for myself!

Cheers Bernie. You are so right in your observations - we must have the most colourful roads and pavements in the world. I sometimes wonder whether things would be a lot cheaper and safer if all if there was less of the "visual guidance" on our roads and pavements; i.e. make our brains work a little harder.

Interesting picture Jag.
Not so much for the trainers but if you look there are two different types of brick, two types of kerb and one type of paving stone all in a very small space.
I know this may sound daft but is it any wonder councils are continually raising council tax.
Look at any local street scene from approx 20 years ago and compare it to now. It's quite a difference. It's almost as if the planners want everything to look like Legoland.
Take a place you know well...Ealing Road. Chicanes, humps, bollards, raised kerbs, protective fences, every few yards a road sign.
It is something that has sadly become the norm and made our streets very unnatractive.
Any one else with a similar view?
