Was clearing out my cupboard the other day and found an old mobile phone. My very first ever mobile phone in fact! The Nokia 2110. First used in 1995 and last used in 1996 (I think). I couldn’t help but laugh at the size and design!
Nokia 2110 – my first ever mobile phone.
(Pictured here next to a Nokia 6230 and a one pound coin for reference. Taken with a Nokia N80!) Many thanks to the nice people at Somos Azules for making me post this!

Nokia started as the engineers of style for mobiles.
They have lost their way now.
But still user freindly because they never change!

My first mobile was a Nokia 5110, perhaps the best mobile in the whole History. I think Nokia is still the king of usability… creating some kind of addictiveness once you have tried their menus.
And a message to any O2-Telefonica bloggers: we are all meeting at the URL Jag kindly said. We keep in touch!
Thanks Jag

Hi Abdul-Rahim: Thank you for your nice comment! I am like you – I feel kind of bad for the folks with the really old phones!

Heya…Lol I think I had an even larger model, in fact it was bigger than a cordless phone. I made good use of it – clunking folks on the head. It is probably lying around amidst all the junk I collect…dunno how I cam across your blog but glad I did. I think it had something to do with mirchi ki sabsi..oh and mirchi is plain hot aka spicey. Btw did you know when folks key in their comment here the Apostrophe key does not work. Hmmm…cheers anyway pal

Hi Rama: yes – they can make very good lethal weapons those retro phones! Thx for the tip about the apostraphe – I will have to look into that – actually – I just tried it – it *does* work, look: ‘hello hello’.

I also have similar type of Nokia pictured except the few button design it has battry type BBH-1S 6.0 V and has a label marked Type NHE-4NY inside – it was given to me as a gift by my nephew who had brought it from Australia. However, I do not have its orignial charger and I am also wondering if the battery can be recharged or can I be able to buy a new battery ( or where can I?) I kind of love this set though it has enormous size compared to modern ones! Can any one give me the answers to my questions? Thank you.

I have the original 2110 indeed John! See http://route79.org/journal/?p=150 – but I don’t want to sell mine! Actually I want to get mine working again! (Can’t find an original Nokia charger for it any more!)
