When it snows you can guarantee that there’ll be loads of Flickr people checking in with pictures of the scene from their windows. North West London is rarely graced with such sights, and even rarely in April, so I could not resist doing the same. By the early afternoon a razor-sharp spell of fierce sunshine caused this spectacle to vanish completely. A classic example of the craziness of the weather systems here in the UK.
Morning scene of surreal quality in North West London.
(Taken with my cameraphone.) Enjoyed while it lasted. (You can see my beloved Route 79 bus in this picture; a blaze of colour in an otherwise greyscale frame.)

Absolutely amazing!!!!!!!

Excellent picture Jag. I remember one of the golden rules about taking colour pictures was to always include something red, if possible.
Not that I know that much but the bus certainly makes the picture.
Back from Thailand. Tried your food recommendations out there from street stalls. First class mate!

Actually, I think the 79 is more orange than red, but I digress.
I saw one the other day outside Morrison’s but I was driving and am not as talented as Jag with a cameraphone.

Hi Jag.
This picture reminds me of one winter,( it would be mid 1960’s ),the exact year eludes me now.Sometime between Christmas & New year.
I walked from the Wembley Park area to Kingsbury,as transport had ground to a halt.My route took me up the hill beside Brent Town Hall, where the snow had drifted to a height well above the knee, and on via Slough Lane etc.
Despite living outside the London area for the best part of the last 40 years, I don’t think so much snow has been seen in London since that time.

Looks the same from my window.. it’s a little depressing…

That’s really an outstanding picture, Jag. I may have to revise my opinion of the K800’s capabilities!

Wow, what a great photo. I don’t live far, so I took a lot of these photos too! It was a most surreal experience to have snowfall in April like that. Has not happened for some years in London!

Thanks Valentina!
And thanks to you too Bernie! Glad you enjoyed Thailand too!
JD: there is no “talent” as such with a cameraphone; you just “use the force” !
Thanks for the compliment re the image!
Wow, Tom: your story sounds very similar to mine when I had to walk great distances due to the snow causing transport to grind to a halt. But I agree with you; I don’t think London as seen “serious” snow for a very long time.
Jessi: depressing? You must be getting too much! (Us Londoners get too little – and when we do we get really excited by it!
)
Cheers Sean! Actually this one was taken with my Nokia N95, but the K800i would have been the same I’m sure. Goes to show – it’s not the megapixels that make a good pic!
Mike: thanks you for such kind feedback!
Valentina: it seems that Spring is now here: plenty blue skies and the temperature is rising. (Slowly!)
Nathitya: us Lodoners would LOVE your Malaysian weather a bit more I’m sure!
Elena: thank you! Glad you enjoyed the daal recipe!
And thanks to you Rashbre!
Couldn’t agree more Santanu! It has indeed been a while since we had some white covering in our neighbourhood!
Thanks Rani!

Hello… long time no look at your blog !! Been catching up, so was pleased to see this photo of London in the snow… actually on the 7th, me an’ the missus were flying from Geneva to Paris to connect to a flight to Cuba and the plane coming into GVA was delayed in Paris due to ice on the wings!! 7th April. It was the only day this year that the missus had to have snow tyres on the car in order to get her to Geneva… crazee or wot?

Absolutely crazeee Pondlife, the weather is behaving just like that these days. We just had a week spell of 25 degrees an up – sometimes right up to 28 – just recently. Which is 10 degrees higher than it should be at this time of year! Weird.
